For everyone who considers the Dordts Patrician House worth a visit, enthusiastic volunteers are ready. They take your coat, offer you a cup of coffee or tea, and are happy to show you around the house. With love and passion, they share stories and take you back to life in the 18th century. And what

View from the Maas Room

museum zuid holland

Around 1780, a round room was added in the Louis XVI style. The dome room partially protrudes above the river and became the most beautiful Maas room in Wolwevershaven. To this day, the hall and the view are spectacular. Nowhere else can you see the confluence of the Oude Maas, the Beneden Merwede, and the

Digital Experience

We spare no effort to immerse you, as a visitor to the Patrician House, in the stories and history of the house and its residents. In our attic film, much is already narrated about the various style rooms and the furniture inside. In addition, our volunteers always enjoy providing further explanations about the collection. Landscape painters from Dordrecht

In two style rooms, you can still see two “fireplace pieces” by the Dordrecht painter Cornelis Kuipers. This prompted the last residents to start collecting more works by this relatively unknown Dordrecht landscape painter. As his body of work is relatively small, the decision was made to also collect paintings from other painters who were

Distinctive of Dordrecht

Every six months, the museum organizes an exhibition featuring unique drawings by artists from Dordrecht. Due to their vulnerability, these pieces are not permanently displayed. Additionally, the museum is always on the lookout for new pieces, new stories, and new reasons to make it a worthwhile visit. So, keep an eye on the website for

Clothing

Basement complex

In the extensive basement complex, you are literally closest to the history of the house. This is certainly worth a visit even now. The oldest parts date back to the mid-seventeenth century, the earliest construction phase of the house. A portion of the even older city wall, on which the house is built, is visible

Tours

The museum is available for group tours both during and outside regular opening hours. We kindly ask you to send an email to verhuur@dordtspatriciershuis.nl with your preferences so that we can provide a customized quote.

The ‘Wolwevershaven’

The history of the Dordts Patrician House is inextricably linked to the Dordrecht harbor area. It is one of the most beautiful buildings on the 17th-century Wolwevershaven. Around the harbor, new trade and industry emerged, giving rise to houses of merchants, including the Dordts Patrician House. It’s delightful to stroll around, heading towards the house.
